This project presents the radical transformation of a dated 1990s hair salon in Kraków into a contemporary luxury hair atelier — a refined spatial experience that redefines the concept of beauty, service, and urban lifestyle design.

The intervention goes far beyond aesthetic renovation. It is a complete rebranding of space into an architectural identity piece — a destination salon that positions itself as a new reference point on the city’s design map. Through a curated modern luxury language, the project elevates a previously outdated interior into a high-end, editorial-quality environment where architecture, light, and materiality become part of the client experience.

Spatial Reconfiguration & Design Identity

The original space, characterized by fragmented layout and outdated 1990s decorative language, was fully reinterpreted through a clean, contemporary spatial logic.

The new design introduces clarity, rhythm, and visual calm. Workstations were redefined to enhance both functionality and privacy, while circulation was optimized to create a seamless client journey — from entrance to styling zone.

The salon is now conceived as a boutique beauty atelier, where every architectural gesture contributes to a sense of exclusivity and elevated comfort.

Material Concept: White Marble, Soft Luxury & Warm Minimalism

The material palette defines the emotional core of the space.

White marble becomes the central luxury element, introducing purity, elegance, and timeless refinement across key surfaces and worktop areas. Its natural veining adds depth and subtle movement, reinforcing the premium character of the interior.

This is balanced with warm wooden elements and vertical timber slats, introducing rhythm, texture, and architectural softness. The combination creates a dialogue between cold sophistication and organic warmth — a hallmark of contemporary modern luxury interiors.

The result is a space that feels both clinical in its precision and soft in its atmosphere.

Lighting Design: Atmosphere as Experience

Lighting plays a fundamental role in shaping the identity of the salon.

A layered LED lighting system is integrated into architectural details, including concealed linear lighting behind wooden slats and along ceiling transitions. This creates a soft, diffused glow that enhances materials while eliminating harsh contrasts.

The lighting strategy transforms the salon into a cinematic environment — calm during daytime operations and atmospheric in the evening, reinforcing its boutique identity.

Light becomes not only functional, but emotional — a defining element of the client experience.

Privacy, Comfort & Textile Elegance

A key design priority was the creation of comfort and spatial intimacy within an urban context.

Large windows are softened by heavy white curtains, introducing a sense of calm elegance while diffusing natural light. Complementing them, wooden blinds provide adjustable privacy, allowing clients to fully detach from the urban environment outside.

This layered textile system introduces softness into the architectural composition, balancing the hard surfaces of marble and wood with tactile warmth and visual comfort.

Natural Elements & Sensory Luxury

Fresh white flowers placed throughout the salon act as subtle but powerful spatial accents.

They introduce a sense of purity, freshness, and living elegance, reinforcing the boutique identity of the space. Combined with refined materiality and soft lighting, they contribute to a multi-sensory experience where design extends beyond visual aesthetics into atmosphere and emotion.

Through its transformation, JW Luxury Hair Atelier has evolved from an outdated local salon into a contemporary design landmark within Kraków’s urban landscape.
