Academic Works
A selection of conceptual and academic projects developed during the architectural education of Agnes Nycz-Men at Cracow University of Technology and ENSAM Montpellier. These works explore themes of urban regeneration, cultural identity, adaptive reuse, materiality, and emotionally driven architecture — forming the conceptual foundation of her later international practice.
The projects combine architectural experimentation with strong contextual narratives, ranging from cultural institutions and urban revitalization to hospitality, adaptive reuse, and public space design.
Selected Academic Projects
1. International Center for Cultural Dialogue — Galata Waterfront Revitalization, Istanbul, Turkey
Master Thesis Project developed between ENSAM Montpellier and Cracow University of Technology. The proposal focused on the revitalization of the Galata waterfront district in Istanbul through a new cultural and urban strategy centered around an International Center for Cultural Dialogue. The tower form was inspired by the dynamic movement of the Whirling Dervishes, creating a sculptural landmark symbolizing cultural exchange, movement, and spiritual identity within the contemporary city.
2. Residential Infill Development on Piwna Street — Kraków, Poland
Engineering Diploma Project focused on designing a contemporary mixed-use residential infill building within the historic urban fabric of Kraków. The project explored the relationship between contemporary architecture and historical context while introducing housing and commercial functions into a dense city environment.
3. MOCAK Cultural Center — Oświęcim, Poland
Conceptual proposal for a contemporary cultural institution located within a pine forest landscape. The architectural composition referenced stacked natural rock formations emerging from the forest, creating a monumental yet organic relationship between architecture and nature.
**4. Mediatheque & Public Library — Wieliczka, Poland**
A contemporary media and cultural center inspired by the crystalline structure of salt. The perforated façade system abstractly interpreted the geometry and translucency of salt crystals, creating a distinctive architectural identity connected to the heritage of Wieliczka.
5. Adaptive Reuse of a Former Power Plant into an Art Center
A revitalization project transforming a historic red-brick industrial power plant into a contemporary center for art, exhibitions, and cultural events. The concept explored the contrast between preserved industrial heritage and new minimalist architectural interventions.
6. Thermal Spa Concept near Turin, Italy
Competition proposal for a contemporary wellness and spa retreat located within the natural landscape surrounding Turin. The project focused on atmosphere, sensory experience, landscape integration, and architecture designed around relaxation, light, and wellbeing.
